Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about pricing, timelines, customs and payment. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

How quickly will I get a quote?

Usually within one working day, often the same afternoon. The more detail you give us — commodity, weight, cubic metres, supplier address — the faster and more accurate the quote.

What’s the difference between LCL and FCL?

LCL (Less than Container Load) means your goods share a container with other shippers and you pay for the space you use — ideal for 1 to 12 cubic metres. FCL (Full Container Load) is your own sealed 20ft or 40ft container, which becomes cheaper per unit once you have about 13 cubic metres or more.

How long does sea freight from China to Nairobi take?

Roughly 30 to 40 days port to port into Mombasa, plus 3 to 7 days for clearance and road transport to Nairobi. Air freight takes 3 to 7 days door to door.

Do you handle customs clearance and duties?

Yes. We are licensed clearing agents. We prepare the KRA entries, advise on tariff classification and PVoC requirements, and give you a duty estimate before your goods ship so there are no surprises.

Can I track my shipment?

Every shipment gets a LinCargo tracking number. Enter it on the Track Shipment page to see milestones from collection to delivery. Your account handler will also update you on WhatsApp.

What do I need to provide to ship?

A commercial invoice and packing list from your supplier, your KRA PIN, and the supplier’s contact details. For regulated goods we’ll guide you through any permits (KEBS, KEPHIS, PPB, etc.).

Is my cargo insured?

Marine cargo insurance is available on every shipment at a small percentage of the cargo value. We recommend it, and we’ll include it on your quote so you can decide.

Do you ship to Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan?

Yes. We run bonded transit from Mombasa along the Northern Corridor to Kampala, Kigali and Juba, handling border formalities at Malaba and Busia.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer or M-PESA to the details on your invoice. For first-time clients we typically ask for a deposit on acceptance of the quote with the balance before release of cargo.
